The Canadian Cancer Society is teaming up with the Winnipeg Rowing Club to host the Canadian Cancer Society Dragon Boat Festival June 22 - 24, 2012.
Originated in China over 2000 years ago each dragon boat is propelled by 20 paddlers. A steers person keeps the boat on course while a drummer keeps the paddlers in sync.
The festival is open to individuals, friends, companies, and organizations looking for way have some fun, and enjoy a little friendly competition. In 2011 the Manitoba Dragon Boat Festival had 120 teams and 2,500 participants.
Over $2.5 million has been raised from the festival with last year's teams raising over $350,000.(2010)
