Jack Kruschen started his career as a dramatic actor, then moved on to be a film actor in 1949. He became a television actor in 1956 when he had a role in an episode of Gunsmoke.

He was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor for his role in 1960's "The Apartment."

Jack's television roles included:

• the regular role of Grandpa Papadopolis on the situation comedy Webster
• the role of guest villain Eivol Ekdol, a villainous magicians' craftsman on Batman
• Dragnet

His final appearance was in 1997 in the film - Till There Was You, starring with with Sarah Jessica Parker
